The meeting covered the possibility of hosting seasonal virtual poomsae championships and regional kyorugi competitions, and was led by Committee co-chair Nadin Dawani.

This idea will now be deliberated at the upcoming virtual World Taekwondo Council meeting in October.

There was also agreement that it is important to maintain regular communication with athletes, and that social media, online education and mental health workshops can play an important role in keeping people engaged.

"We had a very productive meeting with the Athletes' Committee to determine how we can further improve our support for athletes," said Choue.

"Without international competitions, it is more important than ever that we continue to engage with our athletes and prioritise their mental health and deliver more opportunities for education and development.

"Through online workshops we can better engage with our athletes, but also social media allows us to continue to build their profiles and deliver new content for our fans. 

"The upcoming Virtual Poomsae Championships will be an excellent opportunity to showcase our sport while also providing athletes with international-level competition."

From September 8 to 10, Choue met with many World Taekwondo Committees and Commissions including those for medical, referees, technical, Para-taekwondo and education.

There were also discussions on how World Taekwondo can help its stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to different nations around the world facing different restrictions.

For example, taekwondo in Canada recently resumed under strict guidelines across the country.
