An American weightlifter has been suspended for four years by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after she was found to have purchased a banned substance.

USADA revealed Tiffany Parlor violated an anti-doping rule "involving her possession and use and/or attempted use of a prohibited substance".

The 31-year-old’s name will now be scrubbed from the records of competitions dating back to January 4 2018 – the date she bought a product containing clenbuterol.

Parlor, from Wellington, Florida, will also be stripped of any medals, points and prizes accumulated during this period.

The ban comes after a USADA probe into the shipment of prohibited substances from Transformix Peptides – an online seller of anabolic agent.

During the investigation, USADA discovered Parlor had made a purchase of a product containing clenbuterol that was shipped to her home.

A statement from USADA added: "Clenbuterol is a non-specified substance in the class of anabolic agents and is prohibited at all times under the USADA protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement testing, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee National Anti-Doping Policy, and the International Weightlifting Federation Anti-Doping Policy, all of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List."

Parlor’s four-year suspension began on August 31 2020.
