The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) has announced new dates for events cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Numerous competitions scheduled to take place this year were cancelled due to the global health crisis.

Original host cities will now organise the competitions in 2021 and 2022.

The Junior World Orienteering Championships, due to be held in Turkey from June 28 to July 3, then October 10 to 16, is now set to take place from July 11 to 16 2021.

Portugal is then set to welcome the next edition of the competition from July 11 to 16 2022.

Denmark is now due to host the World Orienteering Championships from June 26 to 30 2022.

The country was unable to organise the event in 2021 because of the re-scheduled Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the World Orienteering Championships in the Czech Republic.

Switzerland is then set to host the competition from July 11 to 16 2023.

Italy is due to hold the World Masters Orienteering Championship from July 9 to 16 2022, before Slovakia is scheduled to host the next edition from August 11 to 18 2023.

The pandemic, which has resulted in 25.8 million cases and more than 857,000 deaths worldwide, caused the suspension or cancellation of numerous sporting events.
