The Nigeria Olympic Committee held a three-day advanced sports management course @Nigeria Olympic Committee

Esports and COVID-19 were among the topics presented to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) during a three-day advanced sports management course.

Twenty-four participants took part in the second module of the course, set up using International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity funding, from August 18 to 20.

Professors and sports administrators from federal and state universities, colleges and Oluphemmy Adetula, public relations officer for NOC attended the training.

The programme started with a presentation on several topics including ‘COVID-19 and changing the landscape of sport in Nigeria’, ‘Esports – a paradigm shift due to COVID-19’ and ‘Navigating the terrain of Nigerian sports system assessing the impact of policy formulation and somersaulting’.

Individual presentations of chapters one and two of the Olympic Solidarity manual and a review of case studies took place while Dr Grant Akata, a management consultant on human resources, gave his expert analysis on sports management.

The course was anchored by Professor Clement Fasan, of Lagos State University, and Dyagas Jonathan, of Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa.

NOC President Habu Gumel and NOC Secretary General Olabanji Oladapo were also in attendance.
