tom aggar_14-10-11October 14 - Britain's Tom Aggar has been nominated for the adaptive crew of the year category of the 2011 World Rowing Awards after his success on Lake Bled, Slovenia, earlier this year at the World Championships.

Aggar fought off the Russian Alexey Chuvashev to claim gold and his success sees him maintain a five-year unbeaten run at international level, winning his fourth world title in the process.

He will go into the London 2012 Paralympic Games as a major gold medal hope given his run of form, and he will be in the running to take the World Rowing Award when it is announced later this year.

Aggar, seeking to win the award for a third consecutive year, will be up against Ukraine's Alla Lysenko, who claimed the women's title in the same event in Slovenia, beating reigning champion Nathalie Benoit of France.

The third contender for the award is the British mixed coxed four team of James Roe, Dave Smith, Naomi Riches, Pam Relph and cox Lily van den Broecke (pictured), who defeated another defending champion in the Canadian quartet to take gold.

The winner will be announced at a gala dinner in Varese, Italy, on November 11, when the World Rowing Coaches Conference takes place.
