Organisers of the 2023 Summer World University Games in Yekaterinburg have chosen the logo and mascots for the event.
The logo is due to be presented officially following a meeting of the FISU Presidium later this month, when it is expected to be approved.
Meanwhile, the mascots are set to be presented at the Russia Country of Sports Forum in Yekaterinburg later this year.
Organisers have given an indication of what to expect from the logo, reporting that it can change colour depending on the context to which it is applied.
The logo will be based on the letter U for university and among the colour schemes that can be applied are green, in reference to the city of Yekaterinburg and white-blue-red, the colours of the Russian tricolour.
"Of course, I was hoping for a special logo for our tournament, but I did not expect it to be so modern," said Alexander Chernov, general director of the 2023 Universiade.
"It seemed to be ahead of the time and came from the future.
"I think that with such a symbol the University Games 2023 can confidently claim the title of the most advanced ones in the history of the Games."
A decision has also been made as to the mascots for Yekaterinburg 2023, from more than 200 works which were submitted, it has been reported.
Organisers had planned to choose a winner from a shortlist of entries, but decided to choose three works to jointly hold the honour.
The mascots will be officially unveiled later this year, although the names of the winning designers have been released.
They are three young design students - Taisiya Gubina from Saint Petersburg, Vlada Soboleva from Ufa and Valentina Tishchenko, who is also from Saint. Petersburg.
After their mascot designs were selected, the students will receive prizes from the organisers, including invitations to the Opening Ceremony.
The 2023 Summer World University Games are scheduled to take place in Yekaterinburg from August 8 to 19, with competition in 18 sports.
