It comes after the Chinese Government moved to cancel all international events for the rest of 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, with the exception of test events for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The IFSC said that, after discussions with the Chinese Mountaineering Association, it was decided to cancel the World Cup events in Chongqing, Wujiang and Xiamen.

They had been scheduled to take place between October and December.

Only three World Cup legs remain on the 2020 calendar - in Briançon in France, South Korean capital Seoul and Salt Lake City in the United States.

The fate of the IFSC's 2020 Asian Championships, which are a qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has still not be decided although it appears unlikely to go ahead as currently planned.

Xiamen is set to host the continental competition from December 10 to 13.

Sport climbing is due to make its Olympic debut at the postponed Games, but four of the sport's five premier continental competitions have been delayed by the pandemic, with only the the Pan-American tournament held in 2020 for far.

Cape Town in South Africa is due to stage the African Championships from December 10 to 13 and the Oceania Championships are timetabled for December 19 and 20 in Sydney in Australia.

Russia capital Moscow is scheduled to host the European event from November 20 to 29.

The Asian Beach Games is one of the most high-profile casualties of Beijing's decision to axe international events for the rest of the year.

It was due to run from November 28 until December 6, with sport climbing on the programme.
