The 45-year-old has featured at every Paralympics since Athens 2004, having also earned singles gold and team bronze at Atlanta 1996. 

He also has 13 Parapan American Games gold medals to his name and has been inducted into the USA Table Tennis Hall of Fame. 

His winning performance at last year's Parapan American Games in Lima was enough for him to qualify for Tokyo 2020, along with compatriot Ian Seidenfeld. 

Jenson Van Emburgh also qualified due to his world ranking of number 11 in class three. 

"I think this will be the best ever," Leibovitz said. 

"I am looking forward to an amazing experience with my teammates."

Seidenfeld and Van Emburgh are both due to make their Paralympic debut next year. 

"I’m excited that I qualified," said Seidenfeld. 

"Qualifying is an important step towards my ultimate goal, and I hope to accomplish much more next year in Tokyo."

The Paralympics were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and will now take place from August 24 to September 5 2021. 

"Thanks to my family and everyone that has supported me to get here," said Van Emburgh. 

"This is only the beginning of big things."
