Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Jeremy Lalrinnunga has joined sports management firm Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS) Sports and Entertainment, it has been announced.

The Indian weightlifter clinched gold two years ago at the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.

Lalrinnunga triumphed in the boys 62 kilogram event at the Games by achieving an overall total of 274kg.

His victory saw him become India’s first Youth Olympic champion.

The 17-year-old has continued his progress since the Games and last year broke his own world youth record by lifting 299kg at the Asian Youth Championships, with the feat earning him a gold medal.

Lalrinnunga is aiming to be selected as India’s representative in the men’s 67kg event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which have been postponed until 2021.

He is currently the national record holder in the weight category.

IOS Sports and Entertainment says it is dedicated to building and managing world renowned talent, with the company promising a skilled and professional team.

"I’m looking forward to a great association with IOS Sports," Lalrinnunga said, according to the Times of India.

"They are India’s leading sports management agency and have helped athletes build a solid brand image over the years.

"Their record speaks for itself and I’m happy to associate with them."

The company also represents Lalrinnunga’s fellow weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who claimed the world title in the women’s 48kg event in 2017.

Chanu also earned victory at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games the following year.

The company also represents several boxers including Vijender Singh and Mary Kom, as well as athletics, cricket, hockey, table tennis and shooting stars.
