South American technical delegates attended their first online International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine update during the coronavirus pandemic.

FIS Alpine technical and administrative coordinator Janez Flere conducted the update, with technical delegates from Argentina and Chile present.

Protocols were discussed in case ski resorts open later in the year, which is dependent on the regulations of the authorities in both countries.

Ski resorts currently remain closed until further notice due to the pandemic.

Attendees also studied practical cases and were informed of rule changes.

Flere revealed the update worked well, despite being held online.

"I have sent all the working documents in advance, so they had the chance to study the practical cases," she said.

"They were then divided into four WhatsApp groups, with each group dealing with a different case study.

"Then we all connected again and discussed all the outcomes together.

"At the end it was a great experience for everyone, that we will further develop."
