The Argentina Baseball Federation (FAB) is to implement and develop baseball for players with a visual impairment in the country, having hosted an introductory webinar.

Close to 40 people, including participants from Brazil, attended the video conference.

During this meeting, the FAB introduced the new discipline to coaches and physical education teachers, giving them information on the basics and rules of the game - including the equipment needed for training and competition.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation supplied the FAB with essential apparatus such as sound-emitting balls, electronic bases and rules documents, enabling it to roll out a programme to grow the sport.

The webinar has hosted by Jonathan Deus, FAB development director for adapted baseball.

Along with Deus, in December, Italian coaches Publio Vasquez and Fabio Azzaro started the project in Argentina, organising clinics at Club Ferrocarril Oeste and Club Daom in capital Buenos Aires.

The Italian Baseball Association for the Blind also helped to implement the game in Argentina.

The FAB plans to organise practice sessions once restrictive measures in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 have been lifted.
