colin_price_18-07-11July 11 - Building on last year's successful launch, Naidex South is fast becoming a highlight on the calendar of disability and healthcare events, and this year the organisers are taking inspiration from the 2012 Paralympics which will have a strong influence on the development of the show.

The exhibition, which takes place at ExCeL London on October 19-20, intends to celebrate Britain's Paralympic sport heritage by harnessing the excitement of the global sporting event and including Games related features, such as the RGK Wheelchairs sponsored Paralympic Sports Showcase that will celebrate the talents of disabled athletes.

Five times Paralympian and former captain of the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball team Colin Price (pictured) will be on hand to answer questions about Paralympic sport and encourage visitors to take part, while people can get involved in live demonstrations by local clubs and get information on where they can take part after the show.

In all, the Paralympic Sports Showcase will introduce visitors to some of the 20 sports that will feature at the 2012 Games including boccia, tennis, basketball and table tennis.

Event director Liz Virgo commented: "We are delighted to be adding this new feature to Naidex South and intend to make it a source of inspiration to all our visitors.

"Not only will it showcase the Paralympic sports that will be seen during the 2012 games but it will do so in the venue where the athletes will actually be competing.

"The timing is perfect, as it will capture the excitement of London 2012 at a time when tickets for the Paralympics go on sale, so there is sure to be a huge buzz about the Paralympic Sports Showcase feature."

The two day exhibition also provides disabled visitors with a great opportunity to test out their route to ExCeL before the Games, ensuring that they are well prepared to travel to the venue when the time comes to cheer on the British athletes.

"We are delighted that Naidex South will be showcasing Paralympic sports in October as part of their Paralympic feature, "said James Mark, Services and 2012 Games Director of the venue.

"ExCeL London has been designed to be accessible for all and we work closely with our service partners including the DLR [Docklands Light Rail] to ensure that all visitors are able to participate at events held here.

"ExCeL London is looking forward to playing our part in the Paralympics when we host six Paralympic Sports in 2012."
