The IFF continues its sustainability project in partnership with Myclimate ©IFF

The International Floorball Federation (IFF) has partnered with sustainability company Myclimate to drive environmentally friendly changes.

Recently, the IFF promised to focus on sustainability with the promotion of tap water for this year's IFF Men's World Championships in Helsinki in Finland, to curb the use of single-use plastic bottles.

IFF's partnership with Myclimate will be made up of different stages to improve its carbon impact.

The first stage will see major floorball events evaluated, and will involve consultation from Myclimate to suggest how to minimise harm to the environment.

Myclimate will also work with the Local Organising Committee of the 2022 World Floorball Championships in Switzerland to help with its planning efforts.

WIth IFF staff needing to travel for business, the aim is to compensate with carbon offset projects.

Sales coordinator for the IFF, Tero Kalsta, expressed his happiness with the move.

"I'm thrilled to start working together," he said.

"I'm looking forward to creating measurable solutions for us and our partners with the head of Myclimate."

John Liljelund, secretary general of the IFF, added: "The IFF cannot overlook its responsibility towards the environment and its community.

"This also presents solid building blocks for the on-going planning of the future strategy of the IFF."

Floorball manufacturer UNIHOC, one of IFF's main sponsors, will look to create more sustainable equipment in future.

MyClimate said part of the deal is to continue raising awareness of climate change.

Kai Landwehr, head of marketing at Myclimate, said: "In our minds, the IFF is one of the pioneers in its field as it is the first global sports Federation that we will be partnering with since we started in 2007.

"Sport has a unique position as a role model and change-maker in society, so we are excited to see this power in action and the ensuing results."

In December, the IFF signed the United Nations Sports for Climate Action charter, as part of its strategy to fight climate change.
