The German Taekwondo Union (DTU) has entered the fifth week of its online training programme, with nearly 300 athletes taking advantage of the interactive sessions and presentations so far.

National team physiotherapist Nadine Eichinger started the training sessions, where new participants are greeted in a virtual meeting room.

Another full-body training session was led by former national athlete and fitness expert Silke Kayadelen, while coaches and DTU athletes have taught taekwondo-specific units.

There was also a question-and-answer session covering topics such as nutrition after intensive training, how to improve technical stretching and the relationship between strength and endurance in elite sport.

Athletes also shared how they are adapting to the current COVID-19 situation in Germany, where more than 7,500 people have died.

Last week also featured training opportunities with international athletes Cem Ünlüsoy and Yanna Schneider covering taekwondo-specific units.

National coaches will take the lead this week, starting with Sergej Kolb today conducting interval training.

On Thursday (May 14) there also be poomsae training with national coach Hado Yun and assistant national coach Daniela Koller.
