Taylor, who is a two-time Olympic and a four-time world champion, jumped 17.92 metres in the fifth round in Doha to bag his fourth world title from five attempts. 

His only unsuccessful World Championships came in 2013 when he finished fourth in the final.

At the 2015 Championships, he jumped the second furthest distance in triple jump history with a mark of 18.21m, eight centimetres short of Britain's Jonathan Edwards who broke the world record at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg. 

At the 2018 Diamond League meeting in Doha, Taylor became one of the first global champions to support the Heritage Collection, donating a pair of his spikes from the meeting where he jumped 17.81m.

Taylor's performance at the 2019 World Championships made him one of only 11 other athletes to have won four or more outdoor World Championship titles in one individual event, sitting alongside legends such as Usain Bolt, Michael Johnson, Brittney Reese and Kenenisa Bekele.

The World Athletics Heritage Collection showcases some of the sport's greatest athletes through their personal items including vests, bibs, spikes and uniform with former British sprinter Jason Gardener and Ethiopian long-distance legend Haile Gebrselassie among the first to donate during its inception in 2018.

According to World Athletics the collection: "Sets out to preserve the legacy of athletics, its heroes and heroines, their artefacts, and the documents, videos and photographs that portray them and in turn engage with and inspire the stars and fans of the present and future."

After visiting the heritage exhibition last year during the World Championships Taylor said he was impressed by the showcase.

"Situated in the shopping mall directly connected to our team hotel, it was great to have the chance to soak in the history of our sport," Taylor said.

"Along with my spikes, on display from my event alone, was one of Adhemar Da Silva's shoes from his second Olympic title in 1956, Jonathan Edwards' 1995 world record bib number with the 18.29m distance marked out on the floor.

"A few metres further on was the uniform and spikes which Christian Olsson wore when taking the 2003 world title.

"It was therefore a very easy decision to donate my World Championship singlet and bib number to the collection."

A third consecutive Olympic triple jump title in Tokyo next year will be the next aim for the American who can join Georgian Viktor Saneyev as the only men's triple jumper to win three Olympic titles.
