The World Savate Assaut Championships, due to take place in Austria in September, have been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The International Savate Federation (FISav) made the decision following extensive discussions, with the postponements also impacting the World Canne de Combat Championships and the FISav General Assembly, which were due to take place alongside the World Savate Assaut Championships.

In a statement FISav said: "Many points were considered in making this decision, including the different situations in each member country, and the difficulties of travel, border crossing, and obtaining visas.

"In particular, the difficulties for athletes to prepare and for national Championships to be held were discussed, and above all, the importance of protecting the physical and psychological well-being of athletes and other participants at the Championships."

FISav added that a new date for the Championships would be announced in due course, following consultation with National Federations.
