The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has changed its name as part of a rebranding project and will now be simply known as British Equestrian.

Following a trend of dropping words such as Federation, Association and Union from titles, British Equestrian are following the likes of British Gymnastics, British Triathlon and UK Athletics in their rebrand.

It will bring together the Federation's three separate brands: the BEF who deal with policy and governance, Equestrian Team GBR, which covers the world class programme and senior championship teams, and Hoof, which encourages participation in equestrian sport.

BEF will be retained as the acronym for British Equestrian, while a new logo has also been created putting a "modern spin" on the former design.

British Equestrian's interim chief executive, Iain Graham, has said he feels the rebrand will look "fresh".

"We are just one of many sports to undergo such a rebrand in recent years," he said.

"The feeling is that this change will give our federation a fresh feel while marking us out as the home for anybody who's interested in equestrian sport – regardless of ability, background or discipline.

"This new identity will help to create a unified and easily identifiable face to both the equestrian and non-equestrian public."

The governing body also launched their new website, which can now be found at britishequestrian.org.uk.
