Winterthur in Switzerland will host the 2021 International Floorball Federation (IFF) Champions Cup, it has been announced.

The IFF said the AXA Arena would stage the international club tournament, which involves teams from Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic and Switzerland, on January 9 and 10.

The top men's and women's teams from the four competing nations will participate at the event, due to take place at the home of the HC Rychenberg Winterthur team.

It will be the first major international floorball tournament staged at the arena, constructed in 2018.

"We are proud to welcome the world’s eight best club teams here in Winterthur," said HC Rychenburg manager Mario Kradolfer.

"Together with our many fans, we would like to present Winterthur as a floorball city and make a fantastic tournament possible in one of Switzerland’s most beautiful arenas."

Sweden is the only team to have announced a national champion this year as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The other participating countries have nominated their teams for the Champions Cup based on the regular season standings.
