The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) approved a number of resolutions proposed by the jumping calendar task force amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In an expedited approvals process, the FEI Board agreed the resolutions on a teleconference call.

The new measures will remain in place for the rest of 2020, with the possibility of being revisited next year if required.

CSI 3* events are now exempt from date clash rules, and all date applications or modifications will only be considered by the FEI if at least eight weeks notice is given, instead of the previous 12 weeks.

All other rules, including invitation rules, remain in place.

CSIP events have also been made exempt from date clashes and date applications or modifications will be accepted with at least four weeks notice.

For CSI 2* events, the invitation rules are temporarily suspended but all other rules remain in place.

All current rules for CSI 5*, CSI 4* and CSIO remain in place, with applications for date changes still needing 12 weeks notice.

The FEI Board agreed to prioritise all CSIOs when date clashes are being considered in order to allow teams to prepare for next year's Olympic Games.

They also discussed the FEI Championships in 2020 and 2021, potential initiatives to minimise the impact of the pandemic on event organisers, and the FEI Series, including the FEI Jumping Nations Cup 2020 and FEI Jumping World Cup Final 2021.

The key principles approved by the FEI Board will now be shared with the other seven task forces put in place to evaluate the impact of the virus on the FEI Calendar for dressage, Para-dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting and reining.
