Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet says he supports International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach's stance that it is too early to decide whether to postpone the Olympic Games, adding dealing with the coronavirus outbreak is the top priority at the moment.

Estanguet was speaking after a project review between the Paris 2024 Organising Committee and the IOC, due to be held on March 19 and 20, was cancelled.

The review was due to be held by video conference as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

However, it did not take place after both parties agreed there was nothing major to discuss.

"The priority for the world of sport, for the whole world, is to manage this exceptional health crisis and to protect people," Estanguet said, as reported by L'Équipe.

"The priority of priorities is not the Tokyo Games, it is to safeguard the health of citizens around the world.

"It is an individual and collective responsibility how to ensure that everyone plays this game.

"We must see how to minimise the risks, how we support the medical profession.

"The first issue is there, we have to put things in perspective."
