The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) are to hold Olympic value education programme events with the support of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

The events will take place over four days for students at different universities.

Organisers claim the programme will be designed to install Olympic values in students in a bid to create a more peaceful world.

Athletes from 10 universities are expected to participate.

"We have recognised the emerging danger among sportsmen across the world, hence our decision to initiate the Olympic value education programme to protect the sanctity in sports participation and effectively contribute to building a peaceful and better world," said Olabanji Oladapo, the NOC secretary general, to The Guardian Nigeria.

"We need to keep educating youths on how to practice sport without discrimination of any kind, in the spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play in-line with the Olympic spirit."
