Taekwondo's European Qualification Tournament for Tokyo 2020 has been postponed for a second time after its relocation to Moscow.

The event was initially due to take place in Milan between April 17 and 19 but was shifted to the Russian capital last week due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Dates of between April 16 and 18 were set but the rearranged event has now also been suspended.

It comes with cases of the coronavirus, which has now been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, rising across Europe.

"Based on the recent developments concerning the outbreak of the coronavirus, President [Sakis] Pragalos of Taekwondo Europe has decided to postpone the European Qualification Tournament scheduled in Moscow," a statement said.

"Non-essential events were already postponed by Taekwondo Europe but due to the recently taken restrictive measures of the Russian Government and thus limiting access to Russia to an increasing number of teams, the President concluded that postponement of the event was the only option left.

"The recent restrictive measures announced by the Russian Government and Moscow regional authorities have made it practically impossible for all European athletes to participate under the same conditions.

"Some teams were facing a two week quarantine and it remains unknown what developments will occur in the next few days and weeks.

"Taekwondo Europe will monitor the situation closely and inform all members as soon as new information on the time and location of the tournament is available."

The coronavirus outbreak has forced the postponement of numerous Tokyo 2020 qualifiers, leaving officials with a headache over how to resolve the situation fairly.

There have now been more than 126,000 cases across the world.
