Jarl Magnus Riiber delighted the home crowd with victory in the provisional round of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Nordic Combined World Cup in Oslo.

The Norwegian recorded a jump of 130.5 metres to score 140.2 points on the Gundersen HS134 large hill.

He finished in front of Kristjan Ilves of Estonia on 123.5 and Manuel Faisst of Germany on 121.4.

The provisional round results will only be used in case of adverse weather conditions tomorrow, but could see Riiber starting the 10 kilometre cross-country skiing race a full minute before Ilves.

Tomorrow's competition is set to be the final World Cup event of the season.

It was meant to be the penultimate stop of the season, but it was announced on Monday (March 2) that the last one, scheduled to take place in German town Schonach from March 13 to 15, had been cancelled due to warm weather and lack of snow.

Riiber has a significant lead in the World Cup standings with 1486 points, trailing compatriot Joergen Graabak on 1061.

Vinzenz Graabak is likely to be out of contention, with the German third on 899.
