Egyptians Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini triumphed at the Professional Squash Association Windy City Open in Chicago.

Top seed Ali Farag downed New Zealand's Paul Coll in the final at University Club of Chicago after battling back from two games down.

The 2018 world champion came through 12-14, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-1 to defeat the fifth seed who was playing in his first World Tour Platinum final.

Coll, the World Championship runner-up in November, knocked out Egypt's world number one Mohamed ElShorbagy in the last eight and his compatriot and fellow former world champion Karim Abdel Gawad in the semi-finals.

He could not finish the job against Farag, however, who won another title in the city where he became world champion.

"I could have been the one that was 2-0 up but all credit to Paul, after beating Mohamed and Karim I was out of it after the second," said Farag.

"I tried to hang in there and at least if I didn't win it then I had put some work into his legs.

"It has been a great week for myself and I could not be prouder."

Reigning and four-time world champion El Sherbini, the second seed, beat top-seeded compatriot Raneem El Welily in the women's final which also went to five games.

A see-saw affair was eventually settled 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-9.

"Finally I got to win this tournament," said El Sherbini, after her win over the 2017 world champion.

"Every year I try very hard and I think Raneem is the favourite here.

"She has won it three times before and she plays her best here, but I am glad it was my turn this time.

"This is one of the few tournaments I had not won so it was very important for me to win this title."
