Both countries have sent full-strength teams to the Tondiraba Ice Hall in the Estonian capital, putting forward three athletes in each division. 

Tomoki Hiwatashi of the US earned the men's title last year, but does not return to defend his title.

Instead, compatriots Ilia Malinin, Maxim Naumov and Andrew Torgashev will be vying for the gold medal.

Russia were also successful in 2019, with Alexandra Trusova winning the women's event and Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galiamov triumphing in the pairs. 

All three athletes will be absent, but Maiia Khromykh, Daria Usacheva and Kamila Valieva are set to try and claim another Russian gold medal in the women's contest. 

They will be challenged by American Starr Andrews, who has been competing on the ISU Grand Prix circuit for the past two seasons, earning a silver medal at the 2019 Challenge Cup. 

Competition begins tomorrow with the men's and pairs short programme, with an Opening Ceremony scheduled for the evening. 

The ice dance rhythm dance and pairs free skate is due to be held on Thursday (March 5), before the women's short programme and men's free programme takes place on Friday (March 6). 

Action concludes with the ice dance free dance and women's free programme on Sunday (March 7).
