Olympic gold medallist Epke Zonderland won the men's horizontal bar title as the International Gymnastics Federation World Cup concluded in Melbourne.

It marked a superb return to competition for the Dutchman who had surgery in November to correct a nose problem.

He arrived in Australia a month in advance of the event in a bid to regain fitness and can now look forward to the rest of Tokyo 2020 Olympic year.

Zonderland, the London 2012 champion in the horizontal bar, scored 14.900 to top the pile at Melbourne Arena.

The triple world champion was followed by Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi who scored 14.500 for second place while Australia's home gymnast Mitchell Morgans came third with 14.233.

In the women's floor, American world team champion Jade Carey added to her title in the vault with a second gold medal.

She scored 14.366 to finish in front of two Italians, Vanessa Ferrari on 13.700 and Lara Mori on 12.900.

There was a surprise in the men's vault as South Korea's Jeahwan Shin, who qualified sixth out of the eight finalists, claimed top honours with a score of 14.866.

Jorge Vega Lopez of Guatemala earned silver with 14.783 and Israel's Andrey Medvedev took bronze with 14.550.

Japan's Urara Ashikawa won women's balance beam gold after tallying 13.300.

Ondine Achampong of Britain scored 13.166 to claim silver and Ukraine's Anastasiia Bachynska came third with 12.933.

In the men's parallel bars, gold went to Russia's Vladislav Poliashov with his score of 15.200.

Yusuke Tanaka of Japan ended with 15.166 for silver and bronze went to Phuong Thanh Dinh of Vietnam with a score of 14.933.
