Moustahsane revealed here that AIBA had discussed the Forums, devised by Marketing Commission chair Umar Kremlev, with the IOC during their most recent meeting.

“We explained the main agenda of the Forums, which is just to open the door for discussion with National Federations," he said.

"We want to explain our reforms and all the amendments and new statutes, and talk about the problems that National Federations are facing, and how to find the solutions and keep a dialogue with National Federations.

"They understood and they think it is important to have this communication with the National Federations."

This comes a month after Nenad Lalović, head of the IOC group monitoring AIBA, slammed the lack of progress the body has made since it was stripped of Olympic status last June. 

AIBA lost recognition due to a number of issues, many of which stemmed from a judging scandal during the boxing competition at Rio 2016. 

The organisation's future remains precarious due to a large amount of debt and an uncertain leadership, with Moustahsane currently acting as Interim President after the resignation of Uzbekistan's Gafur Rakhimov. 

The inaugural Forum took place last month for the Americas in Panama, with 16 National Federations from the Oceania Boxing Confederation (OCBC) attending today's event here. 

Guam was the only member nation to not be present. 

Moustahsane and Kremlev both gave opening remarks, alongside Fiji's Secretary of Youth and Sports Jone Maritino Nemani, OCBC President Ted Tanner and Boxing Fiji President Manasa Baravilala.

Acting Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) President Robin Mitchell was another speaker on the agenda.

The Fijian and Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) President urged the National Federations to work together to develop and promote boxing throughout Oceania. 

This sentiment was echoed by Moustahsane.

“Here we have the opportunity to have a collaboration with different islands, to plan and schedule a development programme," he said.

"Some of them do not have the minimum number of officials to host development courses, but if they join together in small groups, I’m sure they can manage to host not only one, but many courses."

Moustahsane also gave a Reform Commission progress update, while Kremlev did the same for the Marketing Commission.

The European Forum is the next to take place, scheduled for next Saturday (February 29) in the Italian city of Assisi.

The Asian meeting is set to be in Amman in Jordan, while the event for Africa is expected to be held in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.
