The European Cycling Union (UEC) Management Board approved a number of changes that will aid the development of cycling.

The Board met during the International Cycling Union (UCI) Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Dübendorf in Switzerland.

It approved the creation of two European centres for BMX coaching and training in the Italian city of Verona and Latvian city of Valmiera.

Both locations have previously hosted the BMX European Cup and Championships, and will now hold courses for riders and training sessions for technicians and marshalls.

Staying on the BMX topic, the Board announced that under-23 and team time trial disciplines will be contested at the 2020 European Championships in Dessel in Belgium.

This year also marks the creation of the World Cycling Satellite Centre in Anadia in Portugal.

Details were then confirmed for cycling's involvement in the multi-sport 2022 European Championships in Munich following its positive involvement at Glasgow 2018.

A women's category was also added to the Cycle-Ball European Championships.

"We have taken another step forward on the journey that we have set for ourselves, which is to promote and support the development and growth of activities in every discipline, not just Olympic, and also to give the same opportunities to both men and women," said UEC President Rocco Cattaneo.

"With a view to subsequent development, we will also monitor the road activities of National Federations, especially in the youth category.

"I would like to thank all organisers who support our events with passion and enthusiasm and make an important contribution to helping us achieve our programme’s projects and thanks to a growing interest in our events, we have already awarded nearly all of our events for the 2021 and 2022 calendars."
