The International Ski Federation (FIS) Women's Ski Jumping World Cup continues in Oberstdorf as opponents look to break the Norwegian and Austrian dominance so far this season.

All events have been won by just four women - Norway’s Maren Lundby and Austrian trio Chiara Hölzl, Marita Kramer and Eva Pinkelnig.

The dominance extends further into the podium places, with only three jumpers - Slovenia’s Ema Klinec, Japan’s Sara Takanashi and Germany's Katharina Althaus - scoring medals from outside of those two nations.

Lundby led the overall standings for a long time before briefly losing out to Hölzl on the first day in Rasnov in Romania last time out, but regained it the following day as she recorded her third win of the season.

Pinkelnig is the only other jumper with three wins this season, only missing the podium twice.

The two-day event in Germany will be contested on a large hill, with Lundby’s two wins and two silvers in five races on large hills being the best form among the top jumpers.

Althaus looked to be the closest threat to the stronghold over the gold medal, finishing just 1.9 metres behind Hölzl in Rasnov.

In the Nations Cup, Austria hold an unassailable lead and are more than 1000 points ahead of Japan in second.

Japan and Norway are only separated by 34 points, with Germany and Slovenia rounding off the top five heading into the sixth venue of the women’s World Cup season.
