Anurag Dahiya has been appointed as the chief commercial officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Dahiya joins the ICC with more than two decades of commercial experience in the Asian media industry.

He was most recently head of content and media sales at Asia's leading communications group Singtel, having also spent 14 years at Fox International Channels - previously ESPN Star Sports - as senior vice-president of strategy and business development.

While there, Dahiya launched Star Cricket, India’s first international cricket-only channel.

He also played a major role in the launch of ESPNews, Star Sports’ first 24-hour sports news channel, and the over-the-top steaming platform ESPN Play.

Dahiya is set to take up the post in early March and will be based at the ICC headquarters in Dubai.

"It is an honour for me to be joining the ICC at such an exciting time," said Dahiya.

"I am looking forward to working with the team to ensure cricket is optimally placed to make the most of the opportunities presented to us by a fast-changing media and sponsorship landscape."

ICC chief executive Manu Sawhney also revealed his delight at the appointment of Dahiya.

"I am delighted to welcome a commercial leader of Anurag’s calibre to the ICC," he said.

"He brings extensive experience across the commercial, content and media rights functions that are so important if we are to achieve our long-term ambition for global growth."
