The Teqball Federation of Zambia (TFZ) is set to hold coaching courses to help develop the sport across the country.

Shukri Elijaiedi, the TFZ's international relations director, announced the news, alongside former Zambian President Rupiah Banda.

The coaching courses will aim to engage young people and former football players with teqball, as reported by The Mast

"I am very happy to have the former President Rupiah Banda to be here to launch the programme," said Elijaiedi.

"Holding workshops to train coaches is the next step for teqball.

"We will hold workshops in every city because Zambia is not just Lusaka.

"The youths in the country are the people that can really benefit from the sport, and even former footballers.

"I just advise the young people to come and try the sport.

"The rules are simple so I am sure they will enjoy it, anyone can check the rules on YouTube."

Elijaiedi also revealed that TFZ hoped to organise a number of tournaments.

"I hope to see more talent because we are going to have tournaments in Lusaka - maybe two weeks - and move to another province till we have a team that can represent the country at international tournaments," he said.

Banda expressed his excitement at the development of teqball in Zambia.

"I am very, very thrilled that the game has been launched finally," he said.

"I am glad that I have been connected to the sport and I’m glad that one day Zambia will be champions of the sport.

"For young ones, it is a new chance to be champions of the game."

TFZ launched in the Zambian capital of Lusaka earlier this month, with International Teqball Federation general secretary Marius Vizer Jr in attendance.
