Earlier this month, WADA sent notice to the Court of Arbitration (CAS) to rule its case against RUSADA. 

RUSADA had appealed the range of sanctions imposed on the country by the global watchdog as punishment for the manipulation of the Moscow Laboratory data.

Kocijančič updated the Committee on this matter, revealing the EOC filed a request for an intervention with CAS to ensure the interests of the National Olympic Committees of Europe and clean athletes in particular are duly considered.

He asked the Executive Committee for neutrality during the case, however.

"Our presence at CAS will be legal only, we are not going there to make politics," he said. 

"It is in our own interest that justice and the rule of law prevails. 

"The guilty should be punished and the innocent protected."

With the meeting held at Olympic House in Lausanne, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach welcomed the Executive Committee members and addressed a number of issues of importance to the Olympic Movement in Europe. 

The organisers of the four EOC sporting events held in 2019 - the Minsk European Games, European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Sarajevo & East Sarajevo, EYOF in Baku and Games of the Small States of Europe in Montenegro - were all congratulated for their work. 

Polish Olympic Committee President Andrzej Krasnicki then provided an update on preparations for the next edition of the European Games, scheduled for 2023 in Kraków and the Małopolska region. 

He claimed that support for the Games was strong and he was optimistic for a high-level European Games. 

Progress updates on the 2021 EYOFs in Vuokatti in Finland and Banská Bystrica in Slovakia were also delivered.

The next Executive Committee meeting is scheduled for May 14 in the Slovakian town of Šamorín, a day ahead of the annual two-day EOC Seminar.
