Kamil Stoch was back on top of the podium in front of a home crowd at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup in Zakopane.

The Polish hero, a three-time Olympic gold medallist and two-time World Cup winner, secured only his third podium finish of the season, his second at the top.

He recorded two significant jumps of 137.5 metres and 140.0m to manage a total of 296.7 points.

There was more delight for the home crowd as Dawid Kubacki came third with 287.8, continuing his impressive run of form.

In between the two was Stefan Kraft of Austria on 290.6.

Karl Geiger of Germany retained his place on top of the World Cup standings with 931 points, despite a fifth place finish.

Kraft stayed in second on 883, while Ryoyu Kobayashi's seventh place result was enough for the Japanese star to remain in third on 831.

He will be competing at home next, with the World Cup travelling to Sapporo on Saturday and Sunday (February 1 and 2).
