Egypt are the form team going into the semi-finals of the African Men's Handball Championship in Tunisia.

They defeated Angola 33-26 in Group I today to make the last four, having already beaten Gabon 36-17 earlier in the week.

The six-times African champions are looking to regain the African title they lost in 2018, when Tunisia won their 10th trophy in Gabon.

Despite their defeat at Salle Omnisport de Radès, Radès, Angola have also made it through to the semi-finals.

The Democratic Republic of Congo were far too strong for Gabon, coming out on top 32-18, and will now play Cape Verde for fifth-sixth place.

In Group II, two unbeaten records were on the line, as Tunisia faced Algeria.

As expected it was a tight affair, but Tunisia just came through 26-22.

That means Algeria face Egypt, while Tunisia play Angola in the semi-finals.

In the other match, Morocco defeated Cape Verde 31-25, with both sides moving into the fifth-eighth place semi-finals - Morocco play Gabon for seventh.

The winner will receive an automatic ticket for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, while the runners-up enter the world playoffs to win a seat at the Games.

Competition continues with the semi-finals on Friday (January 24).
