The Freeski Slopestyle World Cup is finally set to begin in the French resort of Font Romeu after November's opening event in Stubai was cancelled.

Heavy snowfall and high winds saw the event at Austria's Stubai Zoo, with slopestyle competitors having to wait until this weekend to compete in the World Cup.

Last season’s Font Romeu winner and PyeongChang 2018 Olympic slopestyle gold medallist Sarah Hoefflin will be aiming to use the event to get her season back on track.

The Swiss skier has struggled in other freeski disciplines so far, having earned a seventh and ninth place finish in the Big Air World Cup.

Her toughest competition is expected to come from her own team-mates, Mathilde Gremaud and Giulia Tanno.

Gremaud has secured two big air victories this season, while Tanno has finished as runner-up three times.

Sweden boasts a strong team in the men's competition, including Oscar Wester, who secured his only World Cup win in 2017.

Eleven-times X Games medallist Henrik Harlaut is also expected to compete, along with last year’s fourth-overall slopestyle rider Oliwer Magnusson.

Both the men and women's events are scheduled for tomorrow following two days of training.

It is the fourth-straight season of that World Cup competition has taken place at the Font Romeu Snow Park.
