Argentina's women's volleyball team earned a place at the Tokyo 2020 Games,  defeating Colombia 3-1 in the South American qualifier in the Colombian capital of Bogota today.

They became the ninth team to qualify, after hosts Japan, Serbia, China, United States, Brazil, Russia, Italy and Kenya, with three more places still up for grabs as the Continental qualifiers continue.

In front of a partisan 7,000-strong crowd, Argentina came from a set down to win their third and decisive round-robin match16-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-23.

This secured their second appearance at the Olympics.

Colombia made a last effort to force a tiebreak, closing in from 23-17 and 24-20 to come within a point of drawing level in the fourth, before Elina Rodriguez drove the last ball from the right to the far corner to wrap up the win.

Rodriguez was top scorer with 20 points, two more than team mate Daniela Bulaich, who came off the bench during the second set.

Amanda Coneo was Colombia's top scorer on 14 points.

Earlier, Venezuala concluded their series with a win over Peru, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23, to finish third in the four-team South America pool.

Winderlys Medina was top scorer on 15 points for Venezuela, with Brenda Uribe scoring 14 for Peru.
