The host nation will welcome teams to Norway’s capital city from February 19 to 22, as the event has been scheduled to coincide with Oslo’s winter holidays.

The Norwegian Bandy Federation have set the aim of hosting the best edition of the Women’s World Championship to date.

A budget of NOK 2.3 million (£196,000/$256,000/€230,000) has been given to the event to support the ambition.

Matches are scheduled to take place at the Bergbanen and Voldsløkka outdoor skating rinks, as well as the Frogner stadium.

An Opening Ceremony will take place on February 18.

Oslo Mayor Marianne Borgen has invited teams to a reception at the City Hall following the Ceremony.

Sweden will head into the tournament as the defending champions and favourites to claim victory.

Sweden have won eight of the nine Women’s World Championship titles, with Russia having earned a solitary win in 2014.

The two teams have met in every gold medal contested at the tournament to date.

Finland, Norway, China, Switzerland, United States and Estonia will hope to rival the top two nations.

The tournament field is completed by Japan, set to make their first appearance at the World Championships.

Group matches are due to take place on February 19 and 20, with semi-finals and placement matches held the following day.

The gold and bronze medal matches will take place at Frogner Stadium on February 22.

Organisers revealed the majority of ties will be shown on live television broadcasts from Oslo.

Both the semi-finals and medal matches will be broadcast, with full details set to be confirmed prior to the tournament.
