The coach of the Nepali women’s football team has stepped down from his post following the host nation’s 2-0 defeat to India in the South Asian Games final.

As reported by myRepublica, Hari Khadka said that he resigned on moral grounds after Nepal was forced to settle for a silver medal at Pokhara Stadium. 

He has vowed to work closely with the All Nepal Football Association, however.

MG Baladevi bagged a brace to secure victory for India, scoring in the 18th minute and 55th minute.

The Maldives earned bronze after beating Sri Lanka 2-1 in the third-place play-off.

There was also success for India today in the 10 metres air pistol mixed team event, the last shooting competition of the Games.

Annu Raj Singh and Sharma Kumar triumphed with 16 points.

Sri Lanka were the silver medallists, while Bangladesh took the bronze.

India won 29 medals in shooting overall, comprising 18 golds, seven silvers and four bronze.

Bangladesh secured all 10 gold medals in archery in other sporting action today.

Among the country's winners was MD Ruman Shana after he beat Bhutan's Kinley Tshering to top honours in men's individual recurve.

The equivalent women's final saw 14-year-old Bangladeshi Mst Ety Khatun prevail ahead of Bhutan's Sonam Dema.

There were also wins for Bangladesh in the men's and women's individual compound events, through MD Sohel Rana and Suma Biswas, respectively. 

Rana defeated Bhutan's Dorji Tandin, while Biswas held off Sri Lanka's Anuradha Karunarathne to take victory.

In boxing, Bhupendra Thapa claimed a gold medal for home nation Nepal.

He proved too strong for India's Manish Kaushik in the men's 64 kilograms final.
