Russia's Iuliia Kaplina came out on top in women's speed qualification at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Combined Qualifier in Tournefeuille in France.

Kaplina clocked a time of 7.370sec at Espace Sportif des Quéfets, where six athletes per gender will have been awarded quota places for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo come Sunday (December 1).

She was followed in the standings by China's YiLing Song in 7.421 and Indonesia's Aries Susanti Rahayu in 7.463.

Qualification was also held today in the women's boulder and women's lead events.

Lučka Rakovec topped the women's boulder rankings ahead of Japan's Ai Mori and fellow Slovenian Mia Krampl.

Mori finished third in the women's lead, with Krampl and Rakovec second and third, respectively.

Overall in the combined, Mori leads with 44 points, while Rakovec is second with 45 and Krampl is third with 120.

The finals for all three women's events are due to take place on Sunday (December 1).

Action in Tournefeuille continues tomorrow, with the men's speed, boulder and lead finals.

Following the 2019 IFSC World Cup season, the top 22 athletes from each gender in the combined ranking, not already qualified for Tokyo 2020, were invited to participate in the IFSC Combined Qualifier.
