Among the other events held today were those in Para-competition and there was success for home athlete Hamad Eisa Mohamed Al Blooshi in the men's under-56 kilograms category.

Al Balooshi defeated Kazakhstan's Ildar Zainalov 6-0 to clinch the gold medal, registering his third win in as many meetings with his taller and heavier opponent.

"It was hard because this guy seems to have worked pretty hard to improve his game," Al Balooshi was reported as saying by The National.

"I knew it because I was meeting him for the third time."

Another Para-athlete tasting victory today was Sweden's Jenny Oster Hal, the winner of the women's under-70kg event.

She beat compatriot Nathalie Frisk to top honours.

Bangladesh's Katon Sokhina was the bronze medallist.
