Sajad Heidari Chegeni of Iran earned the overall classic bodybuilding title at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Men's World Championships here.

Chegeni triumphed in the classic bodybuilding 180 centimetre category, finishing in front of Thomas Kairys of Lithuania and Marwan Sulaiman Abdulla of the United Arab Emirates. 

Then pitted against the other winners in his division, Chegeni impressed enough to receive the overall title. 

Compatriot Mohsen Poorsaber was the gold medallist in the 171cm division, with Shao Zhong Zheng of China claiming silver and Ahmed Abouelnaga of Egypt earning bronze.

Seoul Kik-wan of South Korea took the 168cm title, followed by Xu Demin of China in second and Mohamed Seghir of Algeria in third. 

There was more joy for South Korea when Ryu Jeh-yung won the 175cm. 

Behzad Edalat Aghbolagh of Iran took second place, while Jose Miguel Gomez of Spain finished third.

Benjamin Jewko of Germany was victorious in the final classic bodybuilding contest to be held, the over-180cm.

He topped the podium ahead of two athletes from the UAE, Khalifah Ali Barman Shamroukh Alhmoudi and Abdulla Mubarak Rabei.

Two games classic bodybuilding categories took place in the morning as Tomas Smrek of Slovakia won the 175cm event.

Erick Sanchez of Guatemala took silver and Hwang Soon-chul of South Korea claimed bronze.

El Salvador's Pan American champion Yuri Rodriguez could only manage silver in the over-175cm category, beaten by home athlete Khalifah Ali Barman Shamroukh.

Baek Jae-wook of South Korea completed the podium. 

Competition continues with the bodybuilding division tomorrow.
