Sweden won the overall International Equestrian Federation Eventing Nations Cup title as Germany clinched their fourth win of the season at the final leg in Boekelo in The Netherlands.

On a busy day of action, Switzerland qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by winning a three-way battle against teams who had not yet booked their place in Japan.

Germany's team of Sandra Auffarth, riding Let's Dance 73, Michael Jung, on board FischerRocana FS, and Ingrid Klimke, alongside SAP Asha P, took command early on and never let their advantage slip.

They finished on 94.10 points to earn a convincing win in front of Australia who tallied 123.50.

Japan managed 124.20 for third position.

Sweden finished 10th out of the 12 countries competing but still had enough to top the overall Nations Cup standings on 435 points.

The Swedes did not win a leg on the circuit all season, but beat Italy by 10 points with Great Britain third on 415.

Germany opted to only compete at four out of the seven legs, winning all of them and ending on 400 points in fourth.

The Swiss were battling with their Dutch hosts and Belgium for an Olympic spot, and prevailed by finishing fifth in the overall standings.

This was two places in front of The Netherlands in seventh, with the Dutch eighth.
