The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has launched an online channel dedicated to the sport.

FIAS Television, which has not yet been given an official name, will show competitions from various countries, programmes about sambo and exclusive content.

"The main objective of the FIAS channel is to popularise sambo throughout the world," FIAS said.

"Now you do not need to search for any videos on the internet.

"It's enough to turn on the FIAS channel to enjoy world class sambo."

Events to be broadcast live include the World Youth and Junior Sambo Championships in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent, which begin today.

A contest to name the channel has been launched with sambo prizes up for grabs.

"The most pressing issue now is the name of the FIAS television channel," FIAS said.

"In this matter, the International Sambo Federation decided to appeal to sambo lovers all over the world to offer their own versions of the channel name."

The channel can be viewed here.
