Ben Nunoo Mensah believes there should be more women in sport ©GOC

Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President Ben Nunoo Mensah has called for increased representation of women in sports administration in his country and across Africa.

Mensah made the claim after announcing former hockey player and Ghana Hockey Association executive Elizabeth King as the head of the women’s commission to serve on the board of the GOC.

She will be assisted by Joyce Mahama, President of the Women's Sports Association of Ghana.

Mensah said more women should be appointed or elected to executive roles in sport in Ghana.

He also said that the GOC is aiming to secure more funding from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa for projects supporting women's sport in Ghana.

The money will be used to organise a conference addressing issues surrounding female participation in Ghanaian sport.
