Just two places in the last-16 are yet to be claimed at the International Volleyball Federation Girls' Under-18 World Championship in Egypt.

The top four countries from every five team pool will advance in Cairo and Ismailia, meaning only finishing bottom leads to elimination.

China, Brazil, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Italy, United States, Canada, Russia, Romania, Thailand, Japan, Peru, Bulgaria and Turkey have all booked their places through before tomorrow's last round of pool fixtures.

In Pool B bottom side Mexico could in theory climb above South Korea but they would need an unlikely victory tomorrow against back-to-back defending champions Italy, who are undefeated in 2019.

Argentina are in a similar situation and must beat Thailand in Pool C to eliminate Belarus.

Today's results saw China maintain their 100 per cent record in Pool A as the four-time record winners beat Brazil, who sit second, 25-13, 25-15, 25-23.

Puerto Rico defeated Cameroon 25-19, 26-24, 11-25, 21-25, 15-9 in a five-set epic to record their first win and ensure qualification.

Cameroon have now completed all of their matches without a victory.

Hosts Egypt were not playing today and sit third.

In Pool B top seeds Italy defeated Canada 25-20, 25-7, 25-19.

United States proved too strong for South Korea, winning 25-11, 25-17, 25-13 to sit behind the Italians.

Second seeds Russia, the bronze medallists last time in 2017, are undefeated in Pool C after seeing off Thailand in four sets, 22-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-18.

Argentina claimed a crucial win in five over Belarus, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 12-25, 15-10 to keep their chances alive tomorrow.

Japan kept their 100 per cent start intact in Pool D as they defeated second-place Peru 25-22, 28-26, 24-26, 25-15.

Third seeds Turkey won their first match against Bulgaria, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-13.

It was enough to take them through as Democratic Republic of Congo are now eliminated without a win.
