According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old is disputing one of the alleged failures with all three said to have happened in a 12-month period.

Coleman, the fastest man in the world for the past three years, could face a ban of two years if found guilty of the offence.

That would rule the world indoor champion out of next month's World Championships in Doha and the the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The Daily Mail has reported that "high level" discussions are underway between the Athletics Integrity Unit, the World Anti-Doping Agency, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and Coleman's legal team.

No party has yet commented on the allegations.

Coleman is considered the fastest athlete currently competing and clocked the joint seventh quickest time in history when he ran 9.79sec in Brussels last year.

That is the best time anyone has managed in the last three years.

He won International Association of Athletics Federations World Indoor Championships gold medal over 60m in Birmingham last year and has two silver medals from the outdoor World Championships, in the 100m and 4x100m relay from London 2017.

Last month, Coleman won the American national title over 100m.

Athletes in all sports must register their whereabouts at certain times so they can be drug-tested at random.

Missing three tests in 12 months is the equivalent of a doping failure.

USADA declined to comment when contacted by insidethegames.
