This is the 14th edition of the event with action in Pattaya until August 25.

Races are divided into two boat classes, the standard boat and the small boat.

The standard division sees 10 rows of between 18 and 20 rowers, along with one drummer and one steerer.

In the small boat category, five rows of between eight and 10 rowers, along with their drummer and steerer, aim to navigate the course.

There will be plenty of action across a wide range of age and gender categories, as all the world's best dragon boat rowers descend on Pattaya.

The age categories are premier – the main competition category with no age restrictions – junior, for rowers aged between 13 and 18, under-24s, and senior – with categories for over-40s, over-50s and over-60s.

There are three racing classes: open, with no restrictions on crew composition, the all-female women's class and mixed, which requires a minimum of eight and a maximum of ten of each gender.

For small boat races, the minimum is four and the maximum is six.

Racing begins tomorrow with the 2,000 metre races, with 200m, 500m and 1,000m events to follow.
