Alessandra Perilli and Gian Marco Berti of San Marino were the winners in the mixed team trap event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Lahti.

The pair scored 40 in the gold medal match, taking place at the Finnish city's Hälvälä Sport Shooting Center.

Their opponents, Bulgaria's Selin Ali and Marin Kirilov, could only manage a score of 38.

Perilli is one of San Marino's sporting stars, nearly claiming her country's first Olympic medal after a fourth place finish in the women's trap at London 2012. 

She also has a team trap World Championship bronze medal, earned in 2010.

Her achievements saw her act as San Marino's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremonies of the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. 

The bronze medal went to Silvana Stanco and Giovanni Pellielo of Italy, who reached 40 points to the 39 scored by Turkey's Safiye Sariturk and Murat Ilbilgi.

The World Cup is due to continue on Wednesday (August 21) with the women's skeet final.

Competitionis then scheduled to conclude on Thursday (August 22) with the men's skeet gold and bronze medal matches.
