The 11-time champions' constant precision proved decisive in a 3-0 victory at Schützenwiese Stadium in the Swiss city. 

They are joined at the top of the Group A standings by Austria, who also maintained their 100 per cent record by defeating Argentina 3-0.

Germany and Austria are set to play each other tomorrow to determine the table topper.

"We want to become world champions," Germany's captain Fabian Sagstetter said.

"It doesn’t matter that we already hold the title as it has been reset for this competition. 

"The atmosphere in the team is already world champion like."

In Group C, Czech Republic stretched their winning start to three matches with a 3-0 victory over New Zealand as they ensured their place in the double elimination round.

Two points behind them in second place are Serbia, who overcame Poland 3-1 today.

Poland bounced back from that loss to beat Belgium 3-0 and pick up their first win.

Namibia remain undefeated in Group D after defeating Denmark 3-0.

Denmark recovered to claim a 3-0 victory over The Netherlands, who had earlier overcome Australia 3-1.

The one other game in the section saw Australia down Japan 3-1.

Action also continued today in Group B with Brazil beating Chile 3-1 and hosts Switzerland defeating the United States 3-0 to successfully back up their opening-day wins.

The group stage is due to conclude tomorrow before the double elimination round begins on Wednesday (August 14).
