Hosts Ukraine were the dominant force at the latest United World Wrestling Beach Wrestling World Series event in Odessa, winning five of the eight gold medals on offer.

Three of the home nation's triumphs came in the women's competition at Stantsiia Velykoho Fontanu Beach.

Among the trio of female victors was Kateryna Mashkevych, who beat compatriots Mariia Heorhiieva and Kristina Berman Shnypko to the 50 kilograms title in a three-way round-robin tournament.

Heorhiieva was the runner-up, and Berman Shnypko came third.

There was also round-robin success for Ukrainians Valeriia Semonkina Zlatova and Anna Mazurkevych in the women's 60kg and 70kg events, respectively.

Both led home podium sweeps with Semonkina Zlatova finishing ahead of Yana Kuzmina Poltavska and Valeriia Odintsova, and Mazurkevych ahead of Olha Chaliuk and Yevheniia Fokina.

Ukraine's two gold medals in men's competition came courtesy of Semen Radulov at 70kg and Serghii Ponomarenko at 80kg.

Radulov defeated the United States' Timothy Allen Box 3-1 in their final, while home wrestler Yehor Muradyan overcame Norway's Vegard Stroem 3-0 in the bronze medal match.

Ponomarenko, meanwhile, topped his round-robin standings ahead of fellow countryman Vasyl Mykhailov and Greece's Georgios Koulouchidis.

The event's three other champions were Moldova's Piotr Ianulov in the men's 90kg, Azerbaijan's Oyan Nazariani in the men's over-90kg and Greece's Aikaterini Eirini Pitsiava in the women's over-70kg.

All three prevailed at the expense of Ukrainians with Ianulov beating Viktor Soloviov 3-0 in their category's sole match, Nazariani defeating Roman Dovhaliuk 1-0 in their final and Pitsiava finishing ahead of Halyna Kovalska in their round-robin standings.

The men's over-90kg bronze medallist was Mahamed Zakariiev, who edged Greece's Ioannis Kargiotakis, and the third-place finisher in the women's over-70kg was Norway's Cathrine Frilseth.
